Amma Ohenewaa, also known as Gifty, finds roots in both her personal history and that of a collective, transgenerational experience.
Accra 1966
Amma “Gifty” Ohenewaa P. was born on August 15, 1966 in Accra, Ghana.
She arrives in Paris in 1989. There, she discovers French cuisine. Immediately her senses are developed and satisfied. The flavors in her dishes are just as appealing as their colors and visual arrangements.
In 2014, she is introduced to painting. Originally self taught, she has taken classes taught by Veronique Mazurel and Antoine Petel at the Ateliers de Beaux-Arts. She has also worked closely with Antoni Ros Blasco.
Her work continues to evolve regardless of underlying patterns or dark periods. The same themes remain : abandon, motherhood, and identity.
